FLC’s band, Universal Language performs at The Kimmel Center

Franklin Learning Center was named a Grammy Signature School in 2018 in recognition of our outstanding programs in Vocal and Instrumental Music, Music Technology, as well as in Musical Theater.  FLC Music students receive high level training in music and musical theater through ensemble classes, small group lessons, private voice and piano lessons, music theory, ear training, music technology, and many performing opportunities throughout the year.

Apply to FLC’s Music Program for the 2025-26 School Year:

Complete the School District of Philadelphia School Selection Application:

  1. 229I – Instrumental Music  OR
  2. 229V – Vocal Music (If applying for Musical Theater, use this code)

In order to be considered for admission at FLC, you must submit both 1) the online high school application on the Philadelphia School District website AND complete an in-person audition or online video audition submission.

After we review submissions, applicants will be invited for either an in-person audition, or will be provided with a link to submit a video audition.

Please be prepared with the following:

  1. For Instrumental – Play a song of your choice or an excerpt of a song from a recent concert (32 measures minimum)
  2. For Vocal Music – Sing a song of your choice
  3. For Musical Theater – Sing a song of your choice from a musical AND prepare a monologue (maximum 1 minute)
